Wow! I’m Honored!!

Blogging has been so much fun and since those kitties allowed me office space in their my condo, I can work when I need to on the next one! And now I can thank 24 Paws of Love for honoring me with another award.

The rules that came with this award are the following:

  1. Please thank the dog who gave this to you, and link to them.
  2. Name 10 (yes 10) things about yourself. Try to be as creative as possible.
  3. Then, award 15 doggie bloggers. It doesn’t matter whether they are old or new. All furends deserve this.
  4. Comment on the new receivers of this award’s blog to let them know of the love.
  5. And the most important: HAVE FUN!!!

Hmmm. 10 things about ME? That sounds pretty easy.

  • I love water.In The Pool I love water. I love water.
  • I’m a Border Collie-Kelpie mix. At least that’s what Mom & Dad think. I think so too.
  • I need a job and I’m sending out resumes. Computer They all say I’m still too young.
  • I was sued by the kitties because I took over the condo level in the cat tree. And I WON!!
  • Mystic likes me now. Kitty 1 Well, sorta…
  • Sometimes Mom gives me something new, like a bully stick. I hide under the desk, but watch Toby. If he likes it, then it’s OK!
  • I’m trying to dig my way to Croatia so I can sit on the beach Catching Rays with Mom & Dad in a couple of weeks. Mom says I don’t have enough time….
  • I love school! It’s hard work, but I get lots of treats. Mom is taking me to Reed College so I can get my proficiency in recall.
  • I help Mom garden and found all these balls she had buried. She said they were onions……..
  • I’m going to have my picture Snappy taken today. I wonder if I can sit still long enough?

That wasn’t too bad, was it? I’m suppose to pass this along to only 15 of my blog friends. I wish I could give it to everyone!!!

Not my Garden!

Mom: Sage! WHAT have you done? Those are my parsnips!

Sage: Mom, you said you and Dad were going to Croatia and I wanted to meet you there. You’ve never left me before.

Mom: I know you do and we will miss you a LOT. But that’s just way to far for you to dig and we are leaving in 2 weeks. You and Toby will have fun with your petsitter.

Sage: But, MOM……..

Mom to Dad: I guess we need to Sage-proof the garden.

The first attempt around the tomato bed failed. We used a plastic fence material and it was too flimsy.  (Note: Tomatoes were stripped of their leaves so MAYBE they will ripen. Portland had 20 days of sunshine this summer–one of the coolest summers in a very long time.) Then we went to fence wire, which is now around the parsnip bed and tomato bed. One more bed to go!

Sage: Guess what, Mom? These parsley leaves taste pretty good!

SAGE!!!

It’s time for the Saturday Blog Hop!

Adopt a Less-Adoptable Pet–Babbas

Don’t you wonder why some people have dogs and then shut them in a basement most of their lives? Well, that’s what happened to Babbas. He’s an 8-year old German Shepherd mix. This is his story:

I’m Babbas, you can call me Travis though. It just rolls off the tongue a little better eh? I’m a young at heart, easygoing happy dude! That’s strange, huh? Oh that’s right, You haven’t heard my story yet…well, lemme tell you a bit about myself. Why is it strange that I’m happy and friendly and happy to be here in the shelter? Well, it’s because I’ve spent the majority of my adult life with minimal care, living in a basement. That’s right, a freakin’ basement. Is that any place for a happy fellow like me? NO. NO. NO. A basement is the place you store your extra junk, it’s no place for an affectionate, loyal and loving companion. But, I don’t hold grudges, I’m just glad that I have the opportunity to live the rest of my life above ground. You know, being a part of the family. Cuddling on the couch, lounging in the back yard, going for car rides…wow that sounds grand! I don’t want to share my home with cats though, but children over 6 and other dogs are just great by me. And did I mention that I LOVE people? Because I do, believe it or not I still do! And I promise, if you take me home I will love you too.

Babbas is not here at the shelter, he is being cared for by the fine folks at The Dog Park doggy daycare in Sellwood. If you are interested in meeting him you can do so at The Dog Park 503-230-1109.

8 years old- 68lbs. My adoption fee is $100 and includes; neuter, microchip, free veterinary exam, 1 month pet health insurance, reduced cost training class, leash/collar, toy & treat packet and food sample.

Hard to believe, huh? He’s adorable and really needs a home. It’s wonderful that he’s being cared for at the Dog Park.

Petfinders and Blogpaws are doing an amazing thing by promoting this drive to adopt a less-adoptable pet. There are so many dogs in the shelters that are “less-adoptable”. Did you know that 30% of the senior dogs like Babbas will NOT be adopted? How sad is that?

Do your part and spread the word–post it on Facebook, Twitter or blog about it if you have a blog. Your help will get these sweet pets like Babbas adopted.

If you do write a blog, enter it on either or both of these sites who are both conducting a Blog Hop.

A New Dog Park

It rains here in Portland. It rains a lot. And the dog park gets nasty and wet and muddy. Last spring we tried every one we could find and there was always lots of mud. Mom wouldn’t let me drink it–she said it was icky and would make me sick. But I did anyway! Then I would have to go home. Sometimes I still was rarin’ to go!

I have lots of energy–Mom is always saying she wished she could bottle it and sell it. We’d be RICH!! And let me tell you, just taking me for a walk is NOTHING. I have to run and wrestle–that’s because all that energy has to go somewhere. And my hyper-switch is still there!! Yep, it is.

So, Mom went on a quest and guess what she found?   FIDO’s!!   That’s a new indoor dog park–here in Portland. And it’s not far away! WOW, this is great! Toby and I love it. And all the humans are so nice! They even let me play in their water bowls. Well, what did they expect? They were just my size–I can get in and curl up!

They even have a big swimming pool! It’s HUGE. I haven’t been in it yet, but I will. You know how much I love water!! And you can stay there all night or you can stay there during the day without your Mom or Dad. I’ve never done that before–I wonder what it’s like? There are a bunch of dogs that do and they are always lounging around on the sofas and getting treats.

I love the grass area. I wanted to show you how big it is.

And I had it all to myself, but a bunch of dogs came later.

We got to run and wrestle! I LOVE Fido’s!!!

Adopt a Less-Adoptable Pet–Joe Joe

How can anyone resist this face?

His name is Joe Joe and he’s an almost 9-year old Lab mix currently residing at the Oregon Humane Shelter. Here’s what they say about him:

Joe Joe is a sweet older guy looking to share his great personality with a loving family like yours. He loves to go for walks, car rides and of course settle down for some good cuddle time with you. One of Joe Joe’s favorite activities is chasing things, so it is paramount that he goes to a home without goats, chickens, or small children. Also Joe Joe can be a little picky about sharing his home with other dogs and a training consultation is needed prior to his adoption to go over his needs when it comes to other dogs. A medical consultation is also included to explain an old injury on his knee.

I hope he can find a furever home soon!

Adopt a Less-Adoptable Pet-Cory

This is Cory! Isn’t he an adorable Brittany Spaniel? Right now he’s living at Project POOCH in Woodburn, Oregon, and needs a new home. He certainly doesn’t look like he has “special needs”, but Cory is deaf. That takes a special person who wants to give him lots of love and can teach him how to live in a deaf world. He’s already learning sign language!

This is what the shelter says about him:

LEAN, CLEAN, LOVIN’ MACHINE. Droopy ears, docked tail, short smooth coat and dreamy brown eyes makes this guy hard to resist. This handsome guy is a real dream boat. His true love will want to spend a lot of time with him.

In exchange for room, board, and lots of affection, Cory will give you unconditional love. He loves to cuddle and give big, wet kisses. He enjoys the company of dogs, cats, kids, and grownups.

Cory is deaf, so he is learning sign language. If you want to meet, Cory, leave him a message at 503-982-4492

To meet Cory, please call the Project POOCH kennels at MacLaren in Woodburn to schedule a visit — 503-982-4492.

Petfinders and Blogpaws are doing an amazing thing by promoting this drive to adopt a less-adoptable pet. There are so many dogs in the shelters that are “less-adoptable”. Did you know that 15% of the dogs with medical problems like Cory will NOT be adopted? How sad is that?

Do your part and spread the word–post it on Facebook, Twitter or blog about it if you have a blog. Your help will get these sweet pets like Cory adopted.
