What a Week!

Okay, Okay. I know. I’ve been….well, where? Mostly here. I took a great trip out to 1000 Acresand found lots of spring wild flowers–that’s lupin & wild roses behind me. I did some good moves with the ball

and (of course) found a mud-puddle or two.

I thought this field of daisies was a good place to end the day.

Then my Dad had something Mom called a stroke. It wasn’t like what she does to my tummy…she said it was inside his head. Kinda weird place to get petted, don’tcha think? BUT, he’s okay. It was a really mild one, but he has to be careful walking for a while. He had to go to the hospital for a couple of days and I went over to my BFF Toby II and Macy’s house. I did have some great adventures over there (that’s me &Toby II on the bike) and had lots of fun,

but I missed Mom and Dad.

New Beginnings

Toby’s been gone a month now, so I decided it was time to try some new things.

We went over to see my furiends Macy & Toby II and there were some well chewed-on beef rib bones lying around from their dinner. There wasn’t much left of them, but they seemed enticing. Actually, downright flavorful and so enticing that I even turned down a bully stick (I had my heart set on chewing one of those bones). So, I traded Toby II my bully stick for one of his beef bones.

Mom brought a fresh one home and gave it to me for dinner. Mind you, I don’t eat raw very often. I’m a bit picky about my food, you see. I do love marrow bones, but this was something new.

I do WHAT with this?

Mom said it was raw meat. It seems I had no idea what to do with something that smelled like that, but I had to figure it out all by myself now. I can’t go hide under the desk when Mom brings out something new and wait for Toby to show me the way. I know I can do it…Toby taught me a lot.

So, Mom cut off some juicy parts and they tasted pretty good! I think I get it, Mom!Except I woke up early, early the next morning with a tummy-ache and I then threw up. I think I’ll stick to the occasional marrow bone….

My next foray into new things was to try Toby’s bed. I always have slept on Mom & Dad’s bed, but….why not?I sorta like it and this wasn’t scary (like that bone).

Now, at bedtime, my new thing is to start out here. On Toby’s bed.

But I still have to get up on the big bed later in the night.

I know I’ll have more adventures into trying new things. I’m just glad I had a good teacher!

Planting Time

Mom said I could help her pick out some posies, but do you know how many sniffs are at a flower store? Well, let me tell you….it’s LOTS! I was having a hard time choosing, but we finally went home with a whole bunch of plants. I liked this fern (Osmunda Regalis) and it’ll get big! I think I’ll put it back by the new fence we’re putting in. What’s going on with your garden?

I think the lettuce and sugar snaps are doing well. What do you think Mom?

Look! I see a flower on the sugar snaps!

Too bad I don’t like veggies…..Do you really need this plant label? I’d rather play keep-awayYou can’t catch me.

Angel Luna

Toby loved visiting Cousin Luna when he went to San Francisco.

The trip to Ft. Funston.

Playing on the beach.

Enjoying the bite Luna would leave in her bowl for him.

Exploring the back yard.

Being together.

We’ll miss you, Luna.

Mother’s Day

I was dreaming about a hike to my special place…1000 Acres, of course…and who should show up this morning but Mom’s son and daughter-in-law. They said: “let’s go to 1000 Acres“. This is a special day for Moms, and my Mom is pretty special, so I think taking her to 1000 Acres was perfect!

Off we went

The day was perfect…warm and sunny. Not too hot. A day for Mom. Except…..

I found a mud puddleAnd got a bit muddy.

I CAN’T HELP IT, MOM. There’s just something about mud that draws me.But the river isn’t far. I’ll get cleaned off. Honest.

See?

I’m clean. AND, I don’t stink.

And I got you a pretty flower.

And this is just for youHappy Mother’s Day to my Mom and all the Moms out there.

And my real Mom…where ever you are…

Thanks for being my first Mom and bringing me into this world. Because of you, I now have a wonderful life.

High Water

One of the places I go to play ball is near the Willamette River. The nice thing is that we can walk the beach–this is my version of ‘walking’ :)

That was last summer…today was a bit different! Winter snow melt is full on and the river is running high. Not that it mattered to me, although Mom said I couldn’t go any further than those ducks (Hmmm, Oregon Ducks?)

You can see the steps to the beach…which is under several feet of water.

Except for a bit of cooling off, I decided ball playing should be done up in the dog park.Probably a wise move, considering Mom was a bit against trying to walk the beach.

Life is Good!

I know, I haven’t been here for AGES. That’s a long time, especially in dog years. Mom went to see little Poppywho is now standing (she’s 7 1/2 months old) and crawling all over the place. She has a while before she can keep up with me though. We’ll see when she comes to visit in a couple of months!

But I had fun while Mom was gone. Dad took me for lots of walks (YAY, DAD!!) and my hu-brother came down and took me to a park to play ball. He’s the GREATEST!! And, then, while Dad & I were on another trip in the car, Mom was there. She was just there. At the car. I couldn’t stop kissing her….I was soooooo happy!! (She said my butt was about to come off from wiggling…well, what are you gonna do?)

Today, we went to a dog event at Fido’s that benefited the Oregon Humane Society. That’s pretty special for me, because that’s where Mom and Dad rescued me. After we signed upI thought I’d check out the place. I was really excited to see my trainer there! We go to his place whenever Mom and Dad think I need some more training. Right now, I’m working on getting my Canine Good Citizen Award, so it’s Sit…Down…Stay. Blah, blah, blah. But, today, all I got was lots of love. I guess that’s the way it’s suppose to be. Right?

I saw a nice person who had a comfy bed and she started putting her hands all over me. Boy, it felt goooood.

I guess it’s what you hu-mans call a massage. Works for me! I’m all for it.

There was something called Cinco de Mayo going on and the owner was wearing a funny hat. I’m just glad she didn’t put it on me! But she’s one of my bestest hu-man friends, so maybe I’d let her. For a second….

Then, off we went again!

Mom said something about “ball”, so I knew it was going to be fun! But, I had to chomp on some grass before heading out on the trail. Something about those greens that just taste good.

And then……PLAY BALL!I’m glad I’m back….
