The Case of the Missing Cat

I do my best to maintain my herding skills with all the neighborhood critters. There’s a house in the ‘hood that always has cats, cats, cats all over the place. Mom says they’re feral, whatever that means. The other day, we saw 5 (one was under the car)!

I think they were waiting for breakfast.

Then, there’s the elusive squirrel. They try their best to aggravate me to death with their chatter, chatter, chatter. One of these days, I’m gonna figure out how to climb a tree! Does anyone have a tree-climbing class for dogs that I could take?

Then, there’s my kitties…Thailing and Mystic. They always stay indoors so they don’t know anything about ferals or squirrels or such. But, Thailing went missing the other day (this is her when she’s not missing)

….except no one knew it but Mystic.

Mystic (at midnight): Mom, Thailing went out.

Mom (at midnight): We’re in here, Mystic. What’s wrong?

Mystic (2am): MOM, Thailing is out!

Mom (2am): What’s the matter, Mystic? Come get on the bed with us.

Mystic (5:30am): MOM, You’ve got to let her in! She’s scared.

Mom (5:30am): Awww, Mystic. You’ve been really fussy. What’s the matter? Do you want some lovin’? Here, let me hold you a minute.

You’re wondering about now why Mom didn’t understand what Mystic was saying. Well, let me tell you, I did! And, when they let me out to go potty a few hours later, guess who I found? Thailing!! I brought her back to the door; we both came in and Mystic stopped fussing.

All that work with ferals and squirrels has paid off. I can definitely say: Case solved!

(Pee Ess: No kitties were harmed in this adventure and Mom is looking for cat-speak lessons.)

What’s Happening

The weather has been absolutely gorgemous here lately, so I’ve been helping Mom get the garden planted. We’ve been to several local garden nurseries–I go along to ensure Mom gets the safest plants (for me) and prettiest posies possible.

We’re hoping for a bumper crop of tomatoes this year…well, she is. (My thoughts on that subject are not really printable. )

All the more for me, Sage!

Not to say we haven’t had FUN. I haven’t been out to 1000 acres much lately, but the last time I was there, I had to ensure the mud puddles were still good.

These may be the last mud puddles for a while. The weather person says we are going to have a drier and hotter next 3 months, so I’m going to be spending a lot more time at the river!

And Mom was VERY glad I’ve been digging there rather than in her garden. OR the new grass….

I’m a Little Crabby

I bet you’re wondering what that’s all about? No, it’s not because there’ve been men swarming all over the outside of my house making the loudest of rackets…how’s a girl supposed to sleep? Or big ol’ cement trucks dumping all this stuff all over my driveway. Or nothing but a lousy couple of walks per day for a few days.

It’s because we went to the beach and it was littered…I mean LITTERED…with crab parts. Shells, legs and other unmentionables.

Mom said they were Dungeness parts, whatever that means. All I know is my buddy Macy was chomping on some of those parts, so I thought I’d give it a try.

Personally, I thought rolling on them was better than chomping….

When all else fails, roll in it.

I don’t know what all that stuff was on the beach. I thought it looked like maggots, but Mom stepped on some and it dissolved. Maybe you know what it is?

And, guess what? I frolicked in the surf again and didn’t drink the salt water. Whoohoo!!

I do have to get serious for a few minutes and let you know my kitty pal, Savannah sent me a very special award! I feel so honored that Savvy is my furriend. I keep hoping she’ll come play in the mud with me, but my kittehs say that’s not a cat thing.

AND, the Nighthawk Project sent me a couple of awards a while back (sorry I’m so slow, but mud calls…)

A Boring Week Wrap-up

I didn’t fall off the face of the earth. Honest. It’s just been boooooring.

And noisy.

See, some guy came and put some very special stuff (an epoxy) in a wall in our basement where water came in last winter. And Mom had to chisel off the coating he put on.

I don’t go downstairs, but you should have heard it. No wonder I had to do an extra amount of sleeping!

Then some other guy came and he’s going to tear out the driveway and put new concrete down. That’s going to be this week. What is this world coming to anyway? Doesn’t Mom know I have to run and play ball?

Sage! Quit your whining…how many walks have we been on? How many times have we been to the river this past week?

Well, maybe that’s right.

WHATEVER!

I did do something really good though. Mom went out the front door yesterday (without me, thank you very much) to talk to the yard man. So, I decided to go to! I’m not allowed to go out that door because every other time I’ve run across the street to find an elusive cat or squirrel. And Mom and Dad have to chase me down. I don’t go far, but sometimes I find some really stinky scat to roll in.

I digress….I got to the sidewalk and I heard Mom say: “Sage! COME” And I turned myself around and went right up to her! See? I can do something right. AND, I got lots and lots of treats.

And just for that (well I think that’s why), I just heard we are going to the coast in a few minutes! Maybe I can dig for dollars again.

Toddler on the Go

Do you know how Mom calls her granddaughter ‘Popstar’? Well, I just found out she really is a star.

We love kissing!

Her Mom writes/edits/produces cookbooks and her latest–Baby & Toddler on the Go–is available for pre-order on Amazon and will be out the end of this month. Poppy was the happy tester for all the recipes and consequently eats everything her Mom makes for her. I got to sample some of it and, let me tell you, it was GOOD stuff.

If you have a few minutes, be sure to watch what made Poppy a star. She absolutely loved making this video and even threw in a few unannounced dance moves as she walks up the street!

Digging for Dollars

You know how hot I get when I run, run, run and then have to wallow in the nearest mud-puddle? Well, it’s the same when I go to the coast, except there’s no mud. I just race out to the surf and lay down to cool off. Then there’s the problem with what to drink. I was drinking the ocean water even though Mom took lots and lots of fresh water with us. She kept telling me to ‘leave it’ and I think I finally figured out why. (Mom says, if you’re squeamish, don’t read what I did). That’s the weirdest water–you drink it and it comes back up so fast my head spins. Sometimes it was coming out both ends. So, this last time, I didn’t drink the ocean water! Mom was sooooooo proud of me. Instead, I had the best time frolicking in the waves.

Then I had a thought about earning some green papers. Do you remember that some bipeds used to Dial for Dollars? That was way back before I was born, but Mom remembers. I wanted to take that one step further and Dig for Dollars.

It’s not easy to find a a perfect dollar, but perseverance wins and success was had!

Do you think this’ll get me a whole lot of green papers, Mom?
