Life is Good!

I know, I haven’t been here for AGES. That’s a long time, especially in dog years. Mom went to see little Poppywho is now standing (she’s 7 1/2 months old) and crawling all over the place. She has a while before she can keep up with me though. We’ll see when she comes to visit in a couple of months!

But I had fun while Mom was gone. Dad took me for lots of walks (YAY, DAD!!) and my hu-brother came down and took me to a park to play ball. He’s the GREATEST!! And, then, while Dad & I were on another trip in the car, Mom was there. She was just there. At the car. I couldn’t stop kissing her….I was soooooo happy!! (She said my butt was about to come off from wiggling…well, what are you gonna do?)

Today, we went to a dog event at Fido’s that benefited the Oregon Humane Society. That’s pretty special for me, because that’s where Mom and Dad rescued me. After we signed upI thought I’d check out the place. I was really excited to see my trainer there! We go to his place whenever Mom and Dad think I need some more training. Right now, I’m working on getting my Canine Good Citizen Award, so it’s Sit…Down…Stay. Blah, blah, blah. But, today, all I got was lots of love. I guess that’s the way it’s suppose to be. Right?

I saw a nice person who had a comfy bed and she started putting her hands all over me. Boy, it felt goooood.

I guess it’s what you hu-mans call a massage. Works for me! I’m all for it.

There was something called Cinco de Mayo going on and the owner was wearing a funny hat. I’m just glad she didn’t put it on me! But she’s one of my bestest hu-man friends, so maybe I’d let her. For a second….

Then, off we went again!

Mom said something about “ball”, so I knew it was going to be fun! But, I had to chomp on some grass before heading out on the trail. Something about those greens that just taste good.

And then……PLAY BALL!I’m glad I’m back….

A Quilt, Baby & Me

I thought I was the baby in this family, but I heard Mom and Dad talking about a new baby girl that’s coming in just a few weeks and is going to live in a place called San Francisco. That’s where my hu-sis lives (that would be Mom and Dad’s daughter) with her husband. So, Mom has been busy making a quilt for the baby’s room. She was in her sewing room a lot, which sorta took some time out from ball-playing, but that’s OK. I got to sleep some more.
Mom here: I saw a picture of a quilt similar to this and had to design one using my daughter’s color scheme.  I made 1/4 inch bias strips using a Clover bias tape maker. After ironing the strips to the background, I applique-stitched around all the pieces;and finished the quilt with some simple echo quilting around the rectangles and squares and free-motioned stars on the borders.

Gee, that was really neat, Mom, but now you got the suitcases out–maybe I can stow away in one. No? I can’t go? I guess that means I’m going to jail my favorite indoor dog park, Fido’s. I was pretty sad, but I heard things are getting even worse. When this little girl is born, Mom is leaving me for a whole month and Dad will be in charge. But Mom said we can talk on Skype! Maybe it won’t be so bad after all…..Powered by Linky Tools

Wordless Wednesday: Watch, Mom!

Getting down on the dock ramp is easy, but I still won’t get into the pool. I see a lesson coming up!

Update on Toby: His treatment of Cushing’s Disease with the drug Lysodren is a fine balancing act of trying to bring his cortisol levels down to normal. He responded to just a few days of treatment with a drop a bit too far and became lethargic and had no appetite. We are in daily contact with the vet specialist, who has been closely monitoring him. We started Toby on prednisone last night and it seems to be working. It’ll be some back and forth with the drugs, but, with some tinkering, we will eventually achieve a workable level.

Of course, Sir Pantsalot would tell you the dragon was a bit fearsome and almost won the first round. But our brave knight conferred with his special vet and has a new secret weapon. A magic powder was added to his sword and he, along with his sidekick Sage, are returning for another round. VICTORY WILL BE HAD!

Doggie Dash Prequel

Saturday morning is Doggie Dash 2011 and Mom and I are doing the walk for the Oregon Humane Society! Our team is from Fido’s, my favorite indoor dog park, so you will never believe what Mom made me do. Put on a t-shirt. Can you believe it? Here’s the evidence:

I wasn’t the only one. These guys had to suffer the same indignities. We had a long discussion about it, and they didn’t seem to care. I’m not convinced (you know how I DON’T like clothes). They’re for two-leggeds, not dogs. We have our own fancy outfits we like to wear, like fancy collars and spiffy tags!

But you need to check back later Saturday to see how it went! We hope LOTS of money was raised for OHS! That’s my alma mater!

Mudless Swimming

I bet no one will believe I can be in water without M-U-D. I thought I’d try out the pool at my favorite indoor dog park–Fido’s! This was WAY different than my usual mud hole. I had to figure out how to use this dock. Toby was cheering me on. Well, sorta. Greta, who’s already in the pool, was showing me the ropes. But, I’m not too sure about not being able to touch ground. This was a little bit scary!

But, I did it! Of course, where there’s a ball…….

There’s a way!The hard part is HOW THE HECK DO I GET OUT OF HERE???????

Something I have to work on……

Meanwhile, I’m going to swim over to the Saturday Blog Hop. I’ll see you there!

Ohhhh, that feels GOOD!

Have you ever had a massage? OMD, we went to my favorite indoor dog park today and there was a massage therapist who is now there sometimes. So, we did it. Toby and I had a massage. AHHHHHHHH. It was HEAVEN!She had some neat music playing and Mom was there and I was getting rubbed. All over!

(please excuse the bad photos–Mom didn’t have her camera and her phone takes lousy pics.)

I have to tell you, Toby was in seventh heaven! Mom gives him massages sometimes (she took a class), but this was the real deal. We’re going back for more!

Play BALLLLLLL!

Ball playing is an art. You have to be agile, quick and always vigilant. I do what Mom calls my “football dance”. Someday I’ll take a video, but you get the idea. That eye HAS to be on the ball.

Here’s an incoming.

And the catch. It takes a lot of skill. And some zany moves! But I get that ball every time–and then take it back to Mom for another round of great ball fun.
I’m dancing my way over to the Saturday Blog Hop. See you there!!

Playing is HARD Work!

I have two favorite dog parks–1000 Acres and Fido’s. Fido’s is an indoor dog park and Mom thinks it’s tops in her book when it’s rainy and wet. And when I need to exercise. And when we need to play ball. And when I want to wrestle and run and not get all wet and muddy……

I have lots of friends at Fido’s and these two are ready for fun. And so am I!!

This is Otis–let’s romp.

The dance.

And the cool down. They have these big, ol’ air movers that’s like being in a wind tunnel (well, sorta). Next to water, it’s my choice for a cool down! Speaking of water, 1000 Acres is my absolute favorite outdoor place to go. Who couldn’t love it–we are on our way out there later today. Guess you know what’s coming!

Me and My Ball

There are two things I’m totally obsessed about–water and a ball. You ALL know about my water obsession. It’s probably a good thing we don’t have a pool in our back yard!! And, mud is just water and dirt–but I bet you knew that.

I haven’t talked much about my ball obsession, but when I go to my favorite indoor dog park–Fido’s–that’s what I do most of the time. If one of my friends are there and I’m in the mood, we wrestle and run, but generally it ends up with ball. Mom even went on strike, but I know how to look at her just right. :-)

The other day, we went to Mt. Tabor dog park. The last time, I ended up really muddy and didn’t do great about staying inside the dog park, so Mom went prepared this time. Two balls and the plan to leash me up while we went over the area where the mud-puddle prevails. Those balls were GREAT! We had fun–Mom threw. I brought it back.

We sorta got near some mud here and you remember I said Mom leashed me up over the place where the big mud-puddle was? It worked the first time around, but she must think I’m some kind of dumb dog. On our second loop and the minute we were past that area and she let me off my leash, well, Kaly (one of my BFF) and I made a bee-line for the mud-puddle. We wallowed, we wrestled, I laid down in it, then we wallowed and wrestled some more. I kinda heard Mom saying something, but we were having too much fun.

Mom, the lousy photographer that she can be sometimes, took a bad movie of Kaly and I racing and playing after we got the message to “GET OUT OF THAT MUD-PUDDLE”. About half-way through this “lousy” movie, you can see the glory of all the mud on my body!

I KNOW what happens next, but this time Mom fooled me. There was a hose near the gate to the dog park and she washed me off! Can you believe that? She told me she was going to take Hawk’s advise and tie me to the back of the car otherwise. Then she took a towel to me when we did get back to the car. She said there was no way I was getting in her car until most of that mud was gone. Geez. She’s no fun….

Actually, I have a really nice Mom. She knows how much I love water and thinks dogs should be dogs sometimes. And Kelpies LOVE water–I guess it’s in my blood. So, what’s a little clean-up? I’m getting used to it…..

I’m ready for a Blog Hop after all that. How about you?
