My Ocean Adventure

Bags were packed and stuff was being hauled out to the car. It was Mom & Dad’s anniversary.

What does this mean? Was I being left behind? I was a bit worried, but pretty soon I was going out to the car too! YIPPEE–an adventure!!

And, not only was it an adventure…it was a beach adventure.  One of my favoritest places to be! Surf was up the day we got there.I love, love, love water, but I wasn’t crazy enough to go in THAT! Those waves even sucked my ball out, but if you wait long enough, they brought it back. Waves are nice like that….

I thought we’d go home–that’s what we usually do–but there was a reason for those suitcases. There are lots of places that like dogs along the coast and the one we stayed at, Historic Anchor Inn, was a place we’ve been to before (Mom reminds me I ran out our cabin door at 1:30 am that time…I just wanted to explore. I guess my only defense is that I was less than a year old then). But, I behaved impeccably this time, I’ll have you know.

Dinner was in Depoe Bay (not me…I wasn’t allowed) and Mom & Dad saw a whale crossing the bay…blowing out it’s blowhole. (Mom wished she could have gotten a picture, but it was too far out). Pretty cool, huh?

Next stop…Moolack Beach. Check back tomorrow for more of my adventure!

Gleneden Beach

My Aunt Sally (Mom’s sister) has been here all week and yesterday we went to Gleneden Beach, south of Lincoln City. It was a gorgeous day with very few people on the beach.

That’s always good because I love to run and play ball!

And work on my aerobatics.

Oops, Missed that one.

Splashing in the waves was fun and really refreshing after such hard work chasing that ball.

A bit of a shake.

And a roll in the sand is the best way to complete a dip in the ocean.

I got some on my nose though.Just don’t drink too much of that water….I did. And I threw up. Mom said I wasn’t supposed to drink salt water. It wasn’t good for me and that’s why she had lots of fresh water with her. I guess I need to work on that one….

The tide was coming in and the waves were pushing the swell further up on the beach, so Mom decided to see how cold the water was. I guess she must have thought it was pretty cold and wondered how I could go play in the surf. Doesn’t she remember how I swim in ponds in the winter? I think she’s a big sissy!

We saw a starfish laying on the beach that had one short arm that was just a little bump. We don’t know what happened, but it probably was regenerating a new one. I didn’t know they could grow new arms, did you? And that they are related to sand dollars. Mom says you have to learn something new to keep your brain alert and she’s been stuffing my brain with new stuff here lately.

We saw the starfish move, so we put it back in the water. I hope it finds its home…it looked lonely lying there on the beach.

Mom says we are going back to the beach in a couple of days. This is gotta be the best summer yet!
