Toby here. I’m trying to figure this out: When Mom loses 5 pounds, she is excited! But when I do, I have to go to the vet. For an old dog, I think I look pretty slim and trim.As that young ‘un, Sage, would say: What’s up with that?
Woof! Woof! YAP can totally relate .. but I’ve gained weight over the winter season. Happy Wordless Wednesday. Eat some delish treats for me. Lots of Golden Woofs, Sugar
Jess can relate to you, Toby! She pingpongs between being too chubby and being pretty underweight, for no apparent reason. We just try to manage her by bulking up her food with pasta and more dry mixer biscuits when she’s looking skinny, and cutting down again when she looks a more appropriate size. 🙂
In my non-profeshonal V-E-T opinion, I think you look great, dude! I seened you jumping hurdles on your hike the udder day. Keeps you slim and trim. But when you become an old geezer like me and my sisses, we just has to grit our teefs and go see the fur real V-E-T and let them steal bloods and stuffs just so our moms be happy and all.
Dear Toby! How nice to see you! I can see that you have lost weight … better see the vet. My friend’s older dog lost weight and they found out that she has diabetes. Now she is fine with the medicine. I hope you are fine and no need even medicine!
Big hug from Teje and Nero
Gosh Mr. Toby, we think you look super! Dillon’s an older gentlepup like yourself and he was down a few pounds last time he went to the doctor but it was okay for him because he was a bit plump before. It’s always good to make sure everything’s A-OK, though!
Toby, I so understand what you are saying. The vet is always telling Mom to give me anything I will eat to keep weight on my bones. I do hope all is well with you.
Toby I am so glad you are feeling good, I wish I could say the same for Bambi. On Memorial Day she was not walking as fast and happy as usual. Tuesday the same. Today she was differently not feeling herself. I couldn’t get her in at the vets but she has a appointment for tomorrow. She is 13.8 today.

Well you are super handsome no matter what your weight and now that I’ve met you in dog person, I know you’re just as nice as you are cute!
But it’s always best to be cautious about weight loss and your Mom only worries cause she loves you so much! … Hope everything checks out okay, you should at least be getting some treats out of the deal!
Yes Toby, it probably is a good idea for you to go to the vet to find out why you’ve lost weight. You might have a sore tooth and not be eating so much. I hope it goes well. You can be too thin you know. Only Greyhounds are supposed to be skinny:)
that’s pretty weird about the weight thing. My Typist is the same. except the other way around. she’s allowed to eat cream cakes every night and get fat but if i put on even a smidgin, it’s off to the scales at the vet’s followed by a diet. it’s a shocker.
i think you look very fit. has anyone ever told you your face looks like mr ben’s from bermtopia? you aren’t related are you?
Toby we thinks you look great so you don’t need to lose or gain any weight. Mumsy says all the times she wishes she would lose weight but she never does, now I can’t figure that out. Hugs and nose kisses
Sorry Toby! Hope they can find out why! Maybe you just need to eat more treats!
Puppy Kisses,
Tanner

Gotta say, 5 lbs on a person and 5 on a pup are two totally different animals! Best to get checked out. Hope all is well Toby.

Lilac feels your pain! Try reminding the humans about how you’re underweight when they’re eating pizza and see what they say then!

Pretty pup! I’m with you though, when an older pup loses quite a bit, time for a check up. : ) When we humans lose a few…well, time to celebrate!
