Planting Time

Mom said I could help her pick out some posies, but do you know how many sniffs are at a flower store? Well, let me tell you….it’s LOTS! I was having a hard time choosing, but we finally went home with a whole bunch of plants. I liked this fern (Osmunda Regalis) and it’ll get big! I think I’ll put it back by the new fence we’re putting in. What’s going on with your garden?

I think the lettuce and sugar snaps are doing well. What do you think Mom?

Look! I see a flower on the sugar snaps!

Too bad I don’t like veggies…..Do you really need this plant label? I’d rather play keep-awayYou can’t catch me.

  1. Be careful what you ‘steal’. You might end up eating a plant that you don’t like. Especially if Mommy needs the label to tell which plant is which.

  2. You know, Sage, if’n I was you, I would pull one of those veggie plants out and dance around the yard with the roots hanging out of my mouf. Fun times, I tell you. Ah, the good old days… I wonder why mom hasn’t planted anything fur a long, long time now.

  3. Sage, you are such a good helper. (Don’t listen to Shawnee, though. I can’t quite put my finger on it, but I think there is something wrong with his advice–something tells me Mom would not be completely thrilled!).

  4. Sweet Sage we see you found you a chew toy. 🙂 We must say all those flowers look even prettier with you standing among them. Hugs and nose kisses

  5. The Typist has killed more plants while we were away. We have pots of weeds and half chewed plants now. (The caterpillars did it, not me.) She says it’s not her fault because it’s getting cold and the plants all want to sleep. She’s such a liar!

  6. Hmmmm, wonder why we don’t have a nice garden like that???? BOL – answer: Ciara and Lightning.

Hope all those plants do well for Mom. We don’t think she will mind too much if all you snitch is a name tag.

  7. We still have a couple of weeks before we can plant, but my indoor seedlings are doing well. Can’t wait to get them in the ground. 🙂 Yours are looking good. And Sage looks like she is having fun!!

  8. Well done Sage! You are so sweet girl helpping in the garden! Remember to put the label back to know what you should find from there later! I think we plant something also tomorrow. I guess I should help but I’m only interested about Foxy now – too bad she is too small for me! Hugs from Nero

  9. Henry’s a label thief. He brings them into the house and chews on them. Good luck trying to keep them in the ground. 🙂

  10. Hi Sage!
Your gardens look nice! We are sorry we have not visited often lately. But we plowed, dragged, readied the garden which is a acre in size and are planting now. So, we will be around more now as we wind this down! Just dont water the plants….. hehehe
    Your friends,

  11. oh man, that pic with the plant label made me seriously LOL! i don’t know why, but it just really struck me as funny.

i had big intentions of planting my very first veggie garden this year, but time got away from me and i don’t think i’d be able to do it until after 4th of july. it’s too late by then, isn’t it? i did get my herb garden up, but am battling some pest of some sort that’s attacking only my basil and spearmint. who does that?? everything else is untouched. so frustrating!
