On a recent trip to the beach with my pals, Toby, Heidi and Macy, we noticed the tide was really out–further than we’ve ever seen it.
But since we don’t live at the beach and only visit occasionally, that doesn’t mean much. It did mean, however, that there was more beach to run on. And run we did!
There were several other dogs on the beach that day and they joined in the fun.
Further down the beach, we noticed some interesting patterns in the sand,
something we don’t usually see when we go to the beach. Called wave-formed ripple marks, they are caused by the “right kind of winds, waves and currents”. And, interestingly, there were two distinct variations of ripple marks. Not only did we have pretty patterns to look at, the sand was hard, making it easier to run.
All good things have to come to an end, so we all piled into my friend’s dogmobile for the trip home.
We were a bunch of tired pooches!
Great pics! Sage is gorgeous 🙂

The beach is my favorite place, especially when the tides out and I have all the sand to play in. I live 2 mins from the beach 🙂 xx0xx

When we lived on the North Sea coast in Germany that was a huge beach and when the tide went out you could not even see the water it was so far away but then it came in again of course and was great. It was dangerous, though as there were sandbars and the water would surround those when it came in and people were always getting stranded out there! I miss racing on the beach and swimming in the sea!

Dogs just have such a marvelous time on the beach. It’s wonderful to see. Those patterns are quite stunning. Mother nature is certainly a remarkable artist.

What a fun day you had! I loved seeing the wave-formed ripple marks. That was a new one for my humans. I have not been to the beach yet, but it is on my list of things to do . . . especially if I can ride home in someone else’s dogmobile like you did!
