Monday This ‘n’ That

We’ve been busy with lots of summer stuff.

Pickles are made (for now), cranberry beans are fresh-frozen (great in pasta e fagioli) and tomatoes are ripening on the vine. We picked wild blackberries out at 1000 acres and Mom froze them for an up-coming galette. Did I help? No. I don’t like blackberries…I ate grass instead. Definitely more nutritious, I think. A lot of dogs do, though, and pick them off the vines themselves.

Then there was the painting of the spare bedroom that’s going to be Poppy’s room when she comes to visit. That’ll be in another week, so there will be lots to tell then!

I went to the river and a duck family swam by–can you see them out there? I think it’s good to share the river, don’t you?© sagechronicles.wordpress.com

Then I dug a hole.

Did you know there are definite benefits to hole-digging?

  • It tones the muscles
  • Relieves boredom
  • Keeps me from digging at home (Mom says that’s a good one!)
  • I might find ‘treasure’
  • Expends some of my energy…

  2. I like blackberries… and raspberries and blueberries but my favorites are alpine strawberries (don’t like cultivated ones). I have trouble waiting until they’re ripe before I help myself!
    Great hole by the way.

  3. The Queen wants to know — does your Mom fresh freeze beans the way you do berries (like I would know)?

P.S. You get to bring your balls inside. . . on the couch? Sigh. The Queen needs to get out more.

  4. You’ve been quite a busy girl, Sage. You were so good to share the river with the duck family, and that hole is a huge (literally) achievement! I want to know if you used your beautiful tail to assist in the painting! 😉

  5. Sage, you are a nut! I love those last photos. Tired, but not giving up that ball! I do believe you that hole digging is good exercise, especially when you dig one as big as that!

  7. Even three dogs working together can’t dig a hole like that around here. Way to go! And those berries look delicious… I’m hungry.
